Wugazi
Wugazi is an homage to two of the greatest musical groups to ever exist. I worked with Cecil Otter to create a full-length mash-up record consisting of thirteen songs that sample Wu-Tang and Fugazi records. What started as a fun side project intended to entertain ourselves and friends gained traction online and resulted in being called geniuses by Rolling Stone, listed by Forbes, named as one of Gwyneth Paltrow’s “Summer Jams” on Jay-Z’s blog and being featured at an Austin, TX music festival where we got to do an interview with Fugazi’s bass player Joe Lally.

Wugazi : 13 Chambers
A full-length record of Wu-Tang Clan mashed with punk rock band Fugazi, released in 2011. It blends Wu-Tang's gritty beats with Fugazi's raw punk energy, creating a unique and compelling listening experience.

Wugazi : Forensic Shimmy
The insistent hi-hat, distant drums and mutating guitar/bass gurgle from Fugazi’s “Forensic Scene” keeps it dirty with ODB’s swaggering “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” and more.

Wugazi : Sweet Release
The flickering guitar, bass and looped drums are from “Sweet and Low,” an instrumental on Fugazi’s In on the Killtaker. The syncopation propels Meth’s frantic “Release Yo’ Delf” verses, his chaotic howls recalling the furious joy of party people beside themselves.

Wugazi : Sleep Rules Everything Around Me
The initial release; a fusion of “Cash Rules Everything Around Me” and Fugazi’s “I’m So Tired,” a ballad from the Instrument Soundtrack. Ian MacKaye’s piano loops mournfully under the “C.R.E.A.M.” a cappella and his croon subs in for Meth’s worldview chorus.
